The Therapist - Social Work Outpatient position reports directly to the Clinical Supervisor and does not have supervisory responsibilities.

 

SUMMARY:

The Outpatient Therapist provides clinical services including group psychotherapy, educational groups, family and/or individual therapy, if clinically indicated.  The therapist provides intake assessment and provides clinical intervention to clients.  The therapist serves as an integral part of the treatment team, making treatment and discharge plan recommendations.  The therapist provides clinical leadership and direction in their assigned program.

 

Responsibilities

The Therapist - Social Work Outpatient:

  • Provides appropriate billable clinical services to individuals, groups, and families in the outpatient clinic.
  • Communicates with multidisciplinary team members and community professionals regarding patient issues or needs that impact on clients/consumers quality of care.
  • Acts as liaison between outpatient clinic and inpatient facilities when clients are hospitalized.
  • Provides clinical data obtained from intake and develops the treatment plan in conjunction with other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Assists the Clinical Supervisor in providing clinical direction to clinic staff regarding clinical aspects of treatment, including strategies with individual clients/consumer population.
  • Completes documentation and procedures for reimbursement of services on the same date services are provided. Keeps the chart current with all relevant and required clinical data regarding the client/consumer.
  • Completes statistics/monitoring of services as assigned.
  • Participates in quality improvement projects and task forces.
  • Uses supervision constructively and applies recommendations made by supervisor to improve clinical work with patients and/or family members.
  • Attends in-services, community events, conferences, and all other meetings as required. Enhance professional growth and development through in-service and educational programs.
  • Assists with maintaining established clinic policies and procedures, and quality, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
  • Maintains caseload and delivers appropriate service levels.
  • Performs utilization management functions as needed.
  • Participates in referral development and community relations activities as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION:  Master's degree from an accreditated college/ university in a health-related field. Experience working with adults and adolescents.

 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:  One (1) year clincal experience in the treatment of mental health consumers preferred.

 

LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:  Preferred
